Gallery 7 is pleased to announce is submission call for OVERTURE, a collective exhibition which will take place from the 15th of April to the 1st of May 2012.
Overture is a beginning, it is something that announces the viewers what will be occurring during the event. It also works as an antechamber which introduces a more substantial matter, somehow making the person in it lingering.
We would like to work as that antechamber between the artists and the viewers. We would like to play the role of an overture by showing young talented artists with an unusual and fascinating approach.
An overture is also a suggestion made by someone which is made to engage the reaction of others. We are looking for artists who are trying to include the viewer’s experience in their work may it be through photographs, painting, sculptures, printmaking or new medias.
Best of show will receive two extra weeks in October 2012 for a solo exhibition.
- This event is open to all media but the artworks must either be assembled by the artist or should be easily mountable
-No age limit
-Artworks must have been made in the last 2 years and never been shown in Tokyo.
-Size should not exceed 1m x 1m x 1m
-Video works must be in 720x480, 30fps, .mov and not exceed 10 minutes.
-International artists must be able, if taken, to send their work before the 3th of April 2012. Sending fees from and to Japan are artists’ responsibilities.
-Application date is until March 9th. Notification will be made at the longest on March 16th .
--Submission fees: Overseas applicants: $25 USD, domestic applicants: JPY 3,000. These fees are not refundable.
